The various chapters in the book present the concepts of imaging spectrometry by discussing the underlying physics and the analytical image processing techniques. The second part of the book presents in detail a wide variety of applications of these new techniques ranging from mineral identification, mapping of expansive soils, land degradation Brand: Springer Netherlands.

Mass Spectrometry Imaging in Food Analysis, a volume in the Food Analysis and Properties Series, explains how the novel use of matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) will be an ideal complementary approach.

MALDI-MSI is a two-dimensional MALDI-MS technology that can detect compounds in a tissue section. Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) is a mass spectrometry technique to visualize the spatial distribution of molecules, as biomarkers, metabolites, peptides or proteins by their molecular masses.

Despite the fact that MSI has been generally considered a qualitative method, the signal generated by this technique is proportional to the relative. The various chapters in the book present the concepts of imaging spectrometry by discussing the underlying physics and the analytical image processing techniques.

The second part of the book presents in detail a wide variety of applications of these new techniques ranging from mineral identification, mapping of expansive soils, land degradation. The chapters in this book demonstrate how MSI can be applied to many areas of research such as clinical pathology, translational medicine, toxicology, biomarkers and response studies, and potential incorporation of MSI into forensic workflows.

Edited By Leo M.L. Nollet. Edition 1st Edition. First Published. Molecular Imaging Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry for the Characterization of Patterned Self-Assembled Monolayers on Silver and Gold. Analytical Chemistry66 (13), Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) is a technique used in mass spectrometry to visualize the spatial distribution of molecules, as biomarkers, metabolites, peptides or proteins by their molecular masses.

After collecting a mass spectrum at one spot, the sample is moved to reach another region, and so on, until the entire sample is scanned. spectrometry measurements may also be suitable for the imaging domain. Nevertheless, IS has drawbacksrelative to point spectrometry, such as a low signal.
